Carol Volling

Age 84, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2008. Resident of Joliet and Lockport. Born on February 19, 1924. She and her late husband, George being a part of America's greatest generation. She was a Girl Scout Leader and Den Mother for the Boy Scouts, a member of the Library Board for DesPlaines Valley Public Library District, a yoga instructor for the Lockport Township Park District and Charlie Club. She retired in 1992 from the College of St. Francis as the Director of the Audio Visual Department.
Preceded in death by her parents, Frederick Smullen and Anna Beatrice Kurtyak; her husband, George Volling; a daughter, Polly Volling; a son, Gary Volling; a granddaughter, Krista Carol Neff; and a brother, Richard Smullen.
She is survived by her children, Georgia Carol (Lee) Neff, Dr. Dwight Volling, Patrick (Ellen) Volling, John (Linda) Volling, Erik (Debra) Volling, and Beth (Ted) Wright; 21 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Kathleen (Patsy) Haggerty and Mary Jane Manfred; and numerous nephews and nieces.
A memorial service and celebration of Carol's life is set for Saturday, July 19th with family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Diabetes Association are welcome.
