Carol L. (Babecky) Koniuszy

Carol L. Koniuszy (nee Babecky), age 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, October 16, 2016.
Carol is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Raymond Koniuszy; children, Cindi (Dan) Larson, Cory (James) Tromp, Carol Lynn (Bill) Long, James (Karen) Koniuszy and Kenneth (Linda) Koniuszy; grandchildren, Erika (Michael) Todd, Brock and Evan Larson, Jef (Lori-Beth) Tromp, Ryan (Nicole) Tromp, Jaclyn (Tony) Modesto and Julie Tromp, Kevin Valera, Meaghan (Nico) Luttrell and Shawn Long, Jason (Megan) Elmore, Stacey (Lawrence) Allen, Gregory, Kaitlyn and Bethany Koniuszy, Brandon and Brooke Koniuszy; great-grandchildren, Lorelai Tromp, Logan, Allison, Addyson, Landon and Anniston Elmore, Lawrence III, Daiyaan and Rihanna Allen; numerous nieces, nephews cousins and faithful companion Gracie.
Preceded in death by her parents, Barney and Louise Babecky; aunts, Caroline and Babe Zaremba and Velma Schultz.
Carol was born and raised in Joliet and was an accomplished accordionist winning many awards throughout her life. She graduated from St. Francis Academy class of 1950 and went on to obtain an Associate’s Degree from Keller Business School of Management. After college Carol began her career with Blockson Chemical and went on to work for the E.J. & E. Railroad as an Executive Secretary for over 25 years. She married her beloved husband, Raymond in 1954 and was joyfully married for 62 years. Carol was a member of the National Association of Railway Business Women. She was a parishioner of St. Thaddeus Catholic Church in Joliet as well as St. Jude Catholic Church in Joliet. Carol’s greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed working puzzles and doing her daily crossword. Carol was a devoted and caring wife and mother who will truly missed.
Memorials in Carol’s name may be made to the Joliet Area Community Hospice.
A celebration of Carol’s life will begin on Thursday, October 20, 2016 with a visitation at the Church of Saint Jude (2212 McDonough St., Joliet) from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville.
There will be no services at the funeral home.
