Mrs. Carmen “Nana” Berry of Joliet, passed away peacefully Friday, May 18, 2018 with her family by her side, at the age of 65.
Carmen is survived by her loving husband, Willie George Berry; children, Jamye of Henderson, NV, Sonja (Darnell) Fields, Shirlene, Georgette, Angela, and George (Queneisha) all of Joliet, IL; eleven grandchildren; siblings, Tracey Bingham, Kenneth (Yvette) White, Michael (Sabrina) White of Joliet, Derek White of Montgomery, AL, Isaiah White III of Saint Louis, MO, Lanita White of Mckinney, TX; her aunt, Mattie Fielder; a special daughter, Kashima Davis, and a special nephew, Justin (Jharita) Jordan, all of Joliet.
Preceded in death by her parents, Shirley and Isaiah White II; sister, LaRita Cunningham; and both paternal and maternal grandparents.
Carmen was born in Joliet on September 15, 1952 to Shirley (nee Bingham) and Isaiah White II. She attended Joliet Central High School and worked as a bus driver for Joliet Township High School and Laidlaw Bus Company.
Carmen was a devoted wife for 47 years to her childhood sweetheart, Willie George Berry, and a devoted mother to their six children.
Carmen accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at Christ Temple Church Apostolic Faith; where she received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. She had such a loving and giving heart to anyone she encountered.
A celebration of Carmen’s life will begin on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 with a visitation at Tezak Funeral Home (1211 Plainfield Road - Joliet, IL) from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m and Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Christ Temple Apostolic Faith Church (212 Richards Street - Joliet) from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
