Bruce E. Harshfield

Bruce E. Harshfield, age 73, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023.

Bruce was born on December 7, 1949, in Sioux City, Iowa. The son of Keith Harshfield Sr. and Charlotte I. Harshfield, he was one of six siblings. He loved being in scouts and little league growing up. Bruce was known for being an amazing father and grandfather, always putting his sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren ahead of everything else. He was renowned for his love of Pepsi. He was a philanthropist who donated to multiple nature charities and loved wolves.

He coached his sons in Shorewood Soccer and was obsessed with hockey, especially his jersey collection, which he enjoyed showing off. He was passionate about music and playing the drums, passing that on to his sons.

He had eclectic taste in every aspect of his life, from his music to his sense of style. That eclectic taste and his love, will be sorely missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Keith Harshfield Sr. and Charlotte I. Harshfield (nee Porter); two brothers, Keith “Eddie” Harshfield Jr. and James L. Harshfield; and one sister, Sharon R. Stewart.

Bruce is survived by and will be dearly missed by his three sons, Vancouver (Dana), Jeremy (Abby) and Justin; four grandchildren, Tavin, Zaylee, Lulie and Bryce; his sisters, Marlene C. Harshfield Hogue and Kelly Harshfield Pavlik; and multiple nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Bruce’s life will begin on Friday, March 31, 2023, with a memorial visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road Joliet from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The family invites relatives and friends to join them on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at St. Edward & Christ Episcopal Church, 206 N Midland Ave, Joliet, IL 60435 for a Funeral Service to begin at 11:00 a.m.
