Bonnie J. Butler, age 87, went to Heaven to see Jesus and be with her family and friends. Born on September 15, 1931 to her father, Maurice Nichols and mother, Catherine (Ross) Nichols.
Bonnie was baptized at St. Mary Carmelite Catholic Church. She made her communion and confirmation at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Bonnie was in the Miss Joliet contest at age 17 (1948).
Right after high school graduation in 1949, she married her high school sweetheart, Richard G. Butler. Bonnie had a gift of music and was able to play the piano by ear.
Bonnie is survived by her six children, David (Donna) Butler, Richard (Lucy) Butler, Steven (Lydia) Butler, Sharon (Art) Rambo, Diane (Carl) Liebermann and Colleen (Bruce) Keller; grandchildren, Jennifer Hoffman, Lisa Markusic, Rick Benson, Eric Butler, Stephanie Petti, Shawn Judge, Julie Wetsell, Matthew Meyer, Derek Doll, Jon and Erin Liebermann and Arianna Garcia; 25 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandson; brothers, Robert (Kay) Nichols and Joseph (Teri) Nichols.
Preceded in death by her mother and father; daughter, Jeanne Sullivan (1986); husband, Richard G. Butler (1989); and grandsons, David Marshall Doll (2015) and Steven Adam Butler (2017); sisters, Beverly Bebar (2017) and Joyce Nichols (2017).
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bonnie’s name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.
A celebration of Bonnie’s life will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018 with a visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 12:00 noon. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
