Born on May 14, 1946 in Tampico, Mexico and passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2009 surrounded by his family. Residing in Joliet for the past 44 years. Survived by his loving wife of 38 years Maria Andrea (nee Campos); children and grandchildren Bonifacio Martinez Jr., Francisco (Cassandra) Campos; Cecelia, Daniel and Myranda Campos, Christina (Jesse) Smith; Brandyn, Christian, Sydni and Eric Smith, Michael (Angela) Martinez; Pedro and Analese Martinez, Richard Martinez; Alessio and Eliana Martinez. Siblings Esperanza (Francisco) Del Angel, Benita (Amado) Cruz, Angel Martinez, Ines Borrego, Margarita (Alfredo) Oviedo Sr., Artemio Martinez and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Pedro and Graciela Martinez; brothers-in-law Francisco Borrego Sr., Nicolas Campos and Daniel Campos; sister-in-law Esther Martinez; mother-in-law Augustina Pena. Bonifacio will be missed dearly by his kids and grandkids, who referred to him as Papu, for his loving heart and the music that he loved so much.
From where services will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2009 at 9:30 AM to The First Hispanic Baptist Church for a Funeral Service at 10:00 AM. Interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2-8 PM.
