Betty Lou Kropf-Walsh (nee Porter), Age 85, entered eternal life on Thursday, October 9, 2014 with her loving family by her side.
Betty is survived by her beloved husband of 35 years, Robert P. Walsh, Jr.; five loving children, Linda Sue (Ed) Akeman of Sarasota, FL, Deborah McAllister of Cleveland, TN, Barry Scott "Scotty" (Judi) Kropf of Joliet, IL, Marla (Ken) McCormick of Verona, IL, and Bobbie Jean Kropf of Sarasota, FL; two step-children, Steve (Laura) Walsh of Fenton, MO and Lisa McFarlin of Lombard, IL; 12 cherished grandchildren; 25 dear great-grandchildren; loving brother, Robert (Ida) Porter of Morton Grove, IL; as well as numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Preceded in death by her first husband, LaVerne W. Kropf (1972) whom she married in 1947; her mother, Martha H. Thompson (nee Porter); and father, Earnest Porter.
Betty grew up in Joliet, IL during the tough times of the Depression Era. She was a graduate of Joliet Township High School. She was a founding member and parishioner of Faith Lutheran Church in Joliet, IL, until moving to Florida in 1985 where she joined Faith Lutheran Church in Sarasota, FL and remained a member until her death. She was an active member of the Sarasota Woman's Club. She also volunteered in the Emergency Department at the Doctors Hospital in Sarasota for 15 years during the latter part of her life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betty's name to Joliet Area Community Hospice.
A Celebration of Betty's life will begin on Thursday, October 16, 2014 with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd, Joliet, IL 60435 then driving in procession to Woodlawn Memorial Park I for a committal service to be held at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel.
