Bernard Alex Fisher, age 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Joliet Area Community Hospice.
Bernard is survived by his beloved sons, David (Linda), Larry (Melissa), Richard (Pamela) and Michael (Deborah) Fisher; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; sisters-in-law, Rita (the late Leonard) Fisher and Carol (the late James) Kegley; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Bernard was preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years, Helen (nee Kegley) Fisher and parents Alexander and Lottie Fisher.
Bernard was born in Joliet, IL and resided in Lockport, IL for 69 years with his wife Helen. He was a parishioner of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Crest Hill and was a proud veteran of the United States Merchant Marines. Bernard dedicated 25 years of his life to the Carpenters Local Union #174 and later began working for Valley View School District as a maintenance tech. He enjoyed baking and was a devoted father. Bernard loved spending time with his family and will be truly missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bernard’s name may be made to Joliet Area Community Hospice.

A celebration of Bernard’s life will begin on Friday, March 23 , 2018 with a visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Crest Hill for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held 11:00 a.m. Per Bernard’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded. Interment will be held on Monday, March 26, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery where full military honors will be conducted.
