Bernadine T. Boris (nee Kastelic), age 85, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Manor Care in Westmont, IL.
She was born in Joliet on March 19, 1925 and was a lifelong resident.
She is survived by her beloved daughters, Sharon (Leo) Fonck and Amy (Jonathan) Gorecki, and her life partner and beloved friend, Andrew Oblak. She was the dearest grandmother of Ronald J. (Ida) Fonck, and Diana (Kevin) Freeman, great grandmother of Danielle, Renee, Suzanne, and Matthew Fonck, and Austin and Alexis Freeman, her brothers-in-law Herman Alexander and Anthony Urbancic, Sr., as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her late husband Stanley Boris, parents Joseph and Elizabeth (Zaletel) Kastelic, siblings Helen (Albert) Lenzen, Joseph (Mabel) Kastelic, Elizabeth Kastelic, Louise (Michael) Kuhel, Marie (Herman) Alexander, Eugene Kastelic, and husband Jack Dolan. Bernadine was a member of the St. Genevieve Society #29 KSKJ and Slovenian Women"s Union Branch #20. She was employed by US Steel Mill for over 40 years. She lived her life to the fullest and has left behind a legacy of love in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, friends and family. Thank you to everyone who shared the love of Polka and Ballroom dancing with Bernadine, she found joy in every step.
A Celebration of Bernadine"s Life will begin with prayers at the funeral home on Monday, December 27, 2010 at 9:30 AM, then a procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM. Interment will be at the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, December 26 from 4 PM until 8 P.M.
