Benedict Yaros

Benedict W. Yaros Benedict, 91, passed away peacefully at his home in Delray Beach Florida on Saturday, February 6, 2010. He was born in Perth Amboy, NJ. He resided in Joliet, IL, for over 50 years, where he met his wife Jean (nee Gombas). Prior to his relocation to (MUCOM) Munitions Command where he supervised ammunition control and distribution he worked at the Raritan Arsenal in Edison, NJ. During his government career, that spanned 33 years, he earned many citations and awards, and was involved in the Special Weapons Project and the Atomic Support Agency in Sandia, New Mexico. He retired in 1972 from Ammunition and Procurement Supply Agency (APSA). After retiring, he and his wife, Jean, spent time traveling between Joliet and Delray Beach, Fla.

He was a veteran of WWII and served as a staff sergeant with the 25th Tank Battalion and was honorably discharged in March 1946. During his service, he was awarded the Bronze Star.

He is preceded by his wife Jean in 2006; mother, Josephine (nee Dedinski) Yaros; father Vendel Yaros; brothers Joseph, Wendell and Stephen; sisters Rose, Ann, Josephine and Mary.

He is survived by his sister Ethel Fech, and many nieces and nephews.

Prayer services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, February 18 at 9:30 am, then will proceed to St. Mary Nativity Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be Celebrated at 10am. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery Visitation will be Wednesday, February 17 from 4 to 8 pm at Tezak"s Home to Celebrate Life 1211 Plainfield Rd. Joliet, IL
