Benedict R. Kanta

Benedict R. Kanta, born November 29,1926 at rest April 26, 2021. Passed away peacefully at home April 26,2021 surrounded by his family. Ben was a lifelong resident of Joliet. Ben is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Monica (Juricic) Kanta. His sons, Gerald Kanta of Rapid City, SD and Kevin (Tricia) Kanta of Rosemount, MN; grandchildren Gerald ll, John (Jessica) and Kevin (Misty) Kanta all of SD, and Kayla, Brendan and Jacob Kanta of MN; eight great grandchildren; step children, Lisa Mammosser of Joliet, Michael Arigno of Nevada, Katie (Jesse Severson) of Lemont, Gena Ariagno of CA, Nicolas Ariagno of NV and Louis Ariagno of CA; one sister, Ann Kanta; and sister in -law, Marie Kanta of Joliet. Ben is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Louis, Joseph, Stephen and Edward; five sisters, Emily, Mary, Irene, Margaret and Helen; and a granddaughter, Emily Mammosser.   Ben was a US Army Veteran serving in World War ll, 82nd Airborne Division. He retired from Sears and RoebuckCo. after 32 years of dedicated service, member of St. Mary Nativity and past member of Joliet Senior Services Association. Ben enjoyed golfing, fishing and traveling and was a handy man extraordinaire. Private Funeral services were held May 3,2021 at St. Mary Nativity Cemetery.
