Age 57. Passed away peacefully on Friday June 8th, 2007 at his home. Born February 13th, 1950, in Burlington, New Jersey to Carl and the late Lillian Gaylord.

Moving to Argo, Illinois at the age of 10, Barry attended Graves Jr. High School and Argo Community High School graduating in 1969. After graduation Barry obtained a job at General Motors-Fisher Body Division where he worked for 32 years as a Crane Operator, retiring in 2000. While working for General Motors, he also served as a Sergeant of the Will County Sheriffs Safety Patrol from 1977 -1982. Not one to sit still during his illness and treatment, he accepted a job with Community Care and Laidlaw Bus services.

Survived by his wife of 33 years, Beverly; children, Barry B. (Marisol) Gaylord, Tracey (Kelly) Gaylord, Shannon (Joel) Workman and Jesse Gaylord; grandchildren, Barry I. (B.I.G.) and Madison Gaylord; sisters, Denise Gaylord, Ramona (Clarence) Moore, Kitty (Sam) Gilbert, and Antoinette (James) McDowell and one brother, Carl Amey Gaylord Jr. of New Jersey; half-sister, Lenice Amey; and half-brother, Wendell Amey of New York. Special family and friends Ida, Lisa (Bruce), Fred (Mary) and Gary (Lisa) Haynes; George Washington, Sheldon (Vera) Cunningham, Rachel Roark, Larry Hoffman and Woodrow Davis. Sister-in-Iaw Shirley Streich, two aunts Merriam Crawley of Burlington, New Jersey and Kitty DeVoe of Melbourne, Florida; also, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Preceded in death by his mother Lillian C. Haynes, stepfather Booker T. Haynes, sister, Carlita Brown, and his brother John Gaylord.

The family of Barry F. Gaylord wishes to express their gratitude for all the kind deeds shown to Barry during his illness. A special thank you to Dr. Suh, Dr. Peterson, Dr. Dawson, and the staff of Joliet Oncology.

From where procession will begin at 8:30 AM to Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 7661 W. 63rd Place, Argo-Summit, IL, 60501 for a Funeral Service at 11am, Thursday, June 14, 2007. Family will receive friends and relatives at Shiloh Missionary Church beginning at 10am. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery 3201 W. Jefferson Street, Joliet, IL 60431. Visitation will be Wednesday June 13, 2007 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Tezak's Home to Celebrate Life .
