Barbara S. Faust

Age 84 of Crest Hill, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at her home with her family by her side.

Born April 20, 1938 in Joliet, Barbara Sue was a daughter of Edward and Wilhelmina (Lightner) Mahoney. She was raised and educated in Joliet and attended Joliet Central High School. On January 1, 1971, Barbara married her best friend, Mr. Kenneth Faust at the Faith Tabernacle Church in Joliet, and together they made their home and raised their family. While Kenneth was busy with work, Barbara was busy at home taking care of the kids and anyone else in the neighborhood that she viewed as her extended family. In her free time, Barbara enjoyed attending shows at the Rialto Theater and traveling with Kenneth to various places around the country. Her most treasured times were spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Barbara will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her children: Joy Osborne (Rich Walko), Joseph Osborne, Theresa Contos (Ray Dombroski), and Jacquelyn (Bob) Carlson; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings: Joyce (the late Clarence) Lewandowski and Jack (Phyllis) Mahoney; step-son: Tim (Kendra) Young; step-daughter: Tina (Rob) Beal; daughter-in-law: Dorothy Faust; her four-legged best friend: Atlas, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years: Kenneth J. Faust; sons: Kenneth B. Faust and Anthony D. Faust; parents: Edward and Wilhelmina Mahoney; granddaughter: Jennifer Fenili; siblings: Shirley (Jack) Gustafson and Edward (Helen) Mahoney, and cousin and dear friend: Sandra Flores.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Barbara's caregivers: Lisa Osborne, Jodi Guinto and Mandy Locke.

Family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Thursday, June 9, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road in Joliet. A celebration of Barbara’s life will continue on Friday, June 10, 2022 with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of service beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow and Barbara will be laid to rest next to her husband Kenneth at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made as gifts in memory of Barbara to the family for their distribution.
