Survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Henrietta (nee Hernandez) Gomez; loving father of Leslie (Sherry), Bruce Gomez, Kathleen (Rick) Fox, Judith (Danny) Hileman and Pamela (Barry) Bottino; dearest grandfather of Anthony, James, Martin and Brandon Gomez, Benjamin and Joshua Fox, Elizabeth and Danielle Hileman, Erin and Maria Bottino; one brother Salvador (Mary) Gomez. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by his parents Augustine and Refugia Gomez; two sisters Frances Mireles and Carmella Lopez.
Augustine was born in Lockport, IL. and was a lifelong resident of Joliet. Retired from the U.S. Steel after 25 years of service. Veteran of the Korean Conflict U.S. Army. Member of the Harwood Post #5 and St. Bernard Parish.
From where prayer services will be held on Friday, February 15, 2008 at 9:30 AM to St. Bernard Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-8 PM.
