Anthony J. Marino
“Tony” “Cookie”
Age 77 of Joliet, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 with his family by his side.
Born September 10, 1945 in Joliet, Tony was the son of Joseph and Mildred (Popidinski) Marino. He was raised and educated in Joliet and went on to work for Chellino Cheese Company. Tony started as a delivery driver and in his 57 years of dedication to the company, worked his way up to president until retirement. Tony was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus in Joliet. He was also Athletic Director for St. Raymond School for 25 years, and a member of the Moran A.C.
Tony loved being with his family and friends. Always the first to offer to lend a hand with a project or provide whatever assistance was being requested. In his free time, you could find Tony working in his garden and tending to his lawn, or being with the numerous friends that would become like family at Jordan Lake. Tony enjoyed fishing and going gaming, and will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and excellent storytelling skills. Tony also had a passion for cooking and loved to share his dishes, especially ones that included Chellino Cheese. Due to his line of work and love of cooking, he earned the nickname “Cheese Man”. Tony’s most treasured times were with family, especially attending his grandkids events. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Tony is survived by his wife of 54 years: Therese Marino; children: Anthony (Jessica) Marino, Emily (Lindsay) Marino and Anne (Jason) Henschen; grandchildren: Will, Ian and Max Hansberger and Troy and Wyatt Henschen; sister: Joanne (Robert) Bailey; brother: Don (Karen) Marino, and brother-in-law: Rollie (Leanne) Mudron, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
