Anthony A�??TonyA�?i�� M. Urbancic, age 95, lifetime resident of Rockdale, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2012 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home with his family by his side. Survived by his children Elizabeth (Emil) Engelman and Anthony (Barbara) Urbancic; grandchildren Emil (Marie) Engelman, Timothy (Mary) Engelman and Jeramie Engelman, Anthony (Naomi) Urbancic III, Andrew (Melissa) Urbancic and Adam (Shari) Urbancic; great grandchildren Anthony IV, Drake, Abilene, Hailee, Grace, Emil IV, Madilyn and Addisyn; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Preceded in death by his wife Barbara A�??BettyA�?i�� (nee Mozden); his parents and five siblings.

Tony proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1940 to 1945; he was in the Ski Troop, served in the Aluetian Islands, and became a drill sergeant. He received the American Defense Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, A-P Theater Ribbon with 1 Bronze star and the World War II Victory Medal. He went to Ground School at Lewis College, became a pilot and continued to fly until he was 88 A�A½ years old. He worked for 33 years at Blockson Chemical/Olin Matheson, retiring in January 1979. He was also a midget race car owner most notably at Joliet Memorial Stadium.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.

A Celebration of Tony A�??s life will begin on Friday, October 12, 2012 at 9:15 a.m. with prayers at the funeral home chapel then moving in procession to St. Joseph Church, Rockdale for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 11, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at TezakA�??s Home to Celebrate Life. Obituary and Tribute Wall for Anthony M. Urbancic at www.tezakfuneralhome.com.
