Age 87. At rest Thursday, March 22, 2007 at his home with his family by his side.
Loving father of Anthony J. (Cindy) Sitar, Jr., Danny Sitar, Penny (Evelyn) Vanderhyden, Richard Sitar, Sandy Burns, Tom, Caroline and Sally Sitar; three sisters, Ceil (late Joseph) Vidmar, Anne (late Denny) O'Brien and Agnes (late Dick) Schultz; devoted grandfather of 12 grandchildren, three great-granddaughters; and sister-in-law, Mary (late Steve) Sitar; brother-in-law, Walter (Doris) Schmitz. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn M. (nee Schmitz) Sitar (2001); parents, Joseph and Caroline (nee Zivnostka) Sitar; one sister, Sue (John) Mulvihill; six brothers, Joseph (Ann), John (Helen), Steve, Frankie and Anton and Thomas (in infancy); and brother-in-law, Gerald (late Beulah) Schmitz.
Anthony was born in Joliet and has been a lifelong resident. Retired in 1977 as an Iron Worker for Local 444 after 40 years of service. Veteran of WWII U.S. Army serving in the South Pacific. Member of the American Legion Post 1080 and St. Mary Magdalene Church.
He loved his family, cottage, (dog house), fishing and his homemade pontoon boat. Contributions to St. Mary Magdalene Church or for Cancer Research would be appreciated.
From where services will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at 9:30 A.M. to St. Mary Magdalene Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. Interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 3:00-8:00 P.M.
