Tony Bebej, Sr.
Age 89 of Joliet, passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, IL, as a result of an auto accident on October 28, 2021.
Tony served in United States Navy from January 1952 – November 1953, with Cargo Handling Battalion #3, Bermuda.
Tony is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years, Linda; children Anthony (Susan) Bebej Jr, Robert (Dawn) Bebej, William (Cheryl) Bebej, MaryBeth (Todd) Dever, step children Vince (Greg) Caranchini, Thomas (Andrea) Wojtas; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews who all loved him dearly. Also survived by sisters-in-law Lisa Brenner, Patricia (Patrick) Murphy and brothers-in-law Walter Piechowiak Jr and Joseph Bush.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Anna Bebej, mother-in-law, 8 brothers and sisters and spouses, and sister-in-law Barbara Bush.
He was employed by Commonwealth Edison Company for 34 years as an operator and shift engineer at Stations 9 and 29 in Joliet, IL, retiring from the ComEd Production Training Center in Essex, IL. Tony was a life-long Cubs fan and was happy to finally celebrate the Cubs World Series victory in 2016.
The family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Monday, November 8, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road in Joliet. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held the following day, Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 130 Woodlawn Avenue in Joliet.
Per Tony’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded following Mass.
Interment with full military honors will be held the next day and Tony will be laid to rest at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.
