""Goldie"" (nee Cheek)

Passed away peacefully on Friday, May 12, 2006 at her home. Age 90. Loving mother of her son, Chip (Carol) of Wilmington, IL; her daughters, Rosemary (Thomas) Murphy of Auburn, WA and Barbara (Richard) Siebert of Oswego, IL. She was the proud grandmother of 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Frank J. Kodiak Sr.; her parents, Charles and Rose Cheek; and her brothers, Chuck Cheek and Leslie Cheek. Goldie graduated from JTHS in 1933 and attended all annual reunions as a member of ""The '33 Club"". She worked as a bookkeeper her entire life, most recently at Kline's Department Store in downtown Joliet. An avid reader up to her death, reading three books a week; a crossword puzzle solver with her best friends Kay Kaffer and Virginia Cheek; a member of the Saturday Morning Medical Group; a shark of all kinds of card games; a crocheter of afghans; and a Hungarian cook of extraordinary talent. Memorials in Goldie's name may be made to Joliet Area Community Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL, 60436.
