Anna Maria "Ann" Kanta, age 92, born May 24, 1932 in Joliet to Stephen and Margaret (Pisut) Kanta, passed away peacefully at her home on June 3, 2024. She was a lifelong Joliet resident and member of St. Ambrose Church.
Preceded in death by her parents, her twin brother Edward Kanta, brothers, Louis Kanta, Joseph (Marie) Kanta, Stephen (Florence deceased) Kanta, Benedict (Monica) Kanta, her sisters, Emily (Norman deceased) Russum, Mary (Joseph deceased) Krol, Irene (John deceased) Dutka, Margaret (William deceased) Meyer and Helen Kanta. Ann is survived by special nephew Kenneth Dutka, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ann was a telephone operator at Illinois Bell, and retired after 27 years of dedicated service. Past member of the Telephone Pioneers and the Joliet Seniors Club. She enjoyed travel, especially bus trips with the Seniors Club and spending time with family and friends. Ann was a loving companion to her brother Edward, sister Margaret and special friend Raymond Plisich during their final years. She will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be Monday June 10th at St. Ambrose Church in Crest Hill. Visitation will be at the church at 10:15 a.m. with a mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ann's memory to Lightways Hospice would be appreciated.
