Ann R. Horwath (nee Knezevic) at rest on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Joliet Area Community Hospice. Born in Joliet, IL.
Preceded in death by her husband, Ed “Fudgie” Horwath (2002); parents, John and Rose (nee Stilinovich) Knezevic; brothers, Gene (Gloria) Knezevic of Boyton Beach, FL., George (Frances) Knezevic, Anthony (Mary) Knezevic, and Edward (Dorothy) Knezevic of Oswego; nephews, George (Kathy) Knezevic of Shorewood and Leroy (Angie) Horwath of Gilbert, AZ.
Survived by her son, John Horwath of Joliet; nephews, Emmitt (Carol) Grace of Rockford, Ron Knezevic of Shorewood, Tony Knezevic of Joliet, Patrick Horwath of Gilbert, AZ., Thomas Horwath of Scottsdale, AZ., and Robert Horwath of New Jersey; nieces, Nancy Alderson of Columbia, MO., Roseann (Albert) Dzurko of MO., Barbara (Marshall) Axelton of Coyners, GA., Leann Horwath of Phoenix, AZ., and Colleen (Gee) Betancourt of FL.
Ann was employed at the Royal Equipment Agency in Chicago during the early 1940’s. During the war years, she worked at the Elwood Ordinance Ammunition Plant. Ann managed several dress shops in downtown Joliet (Cotton Shop and My Shop) during the 50’s and 60’s. She was employed as a Security Manager for Wieboldt’s Department Stores in Oak Park, Lombard, and in Joliet until her retirement in 1987.
Ann was a loving, generous, and compassionate wife and mother. She was active in the St. Mary Nativity Mother’s Club in the 1950’s. Ann loved to read, follow sports, and discuss current events. She loved people and was always interested in hearing their stories. She contributed to several charities on a regular basis.
Ann wished to thank Bob and Mary Jean Jaskowiak of Joliet and Barbara Axelton of Coyners, GA., for their friendship and support.
Memorial donations in Ann’s name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be greatly appreciated.
Private family services were held. Interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
