It is with great sadness that the family of Angel Duran Arias, age 69, announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother. Angel passed away peacefully on July 29, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones.
Angel is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Virginia Refugio Arias; children Angel (Veronica), Gabriel (Renee Rivera), Raphael (Angelica) and Tanya; grandchildren Ariana (Jairo Diaz), Griselda and Rozlynn; great grandson Lisandro Angel Diaz; siblings Rafael (Patricia), Jaime (Lourdes), Margarita, Leticia (Renzo), and Miroslavia, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Rafael and Angelina Arias, and numerous aunts and uncles.
Born in Moroleon, Guanajuato, Mexico (El Rancho de Cepio), Angel Arias emigrated to the United States in 1969 working the produce fields of Southern California. Angel married the love of his life, Virginia, on December 29,1978 and established his home and family in Joliet, Illinois where he would live the rest of his life. He had an exemplary work ethic that followed him through various employers, including GAF, McKesson, and Hollywood Casino, where he eventually retired from in 2021. He enjoyed spending time at La Heradura de Joliet, which he co-owned with his uncles for some time, as well as being an active member of the Lienzo Charro Los Nortenos de Joliet in his early adult life. He was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be remembered for his laid-back, easy-going demeanor and his mischievous sense of humor. Like his namesake, he was an angel with a big heart and a contagious smile.
The family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Thursday, August 1, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road in Joliet.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 2 ,2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 416 N. Chicago St, Joliet, IL. with burial to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 23060 W. Jefferson St, Joliet, IL.

La familia recibirá a familiares y amigos para una visita el Jueves 1 de Agosto de 2024, de 4:00 p.m. a 8:00 p.m. en la funeraria Tezak, 1211 Plainfield Road en Joliet.
Los servicios funerarios se llevarán a cabo el Viernes 2 de Agosto de 2024 a las 10:00 a.m. en la Iglesia Católica St. Joseph, 416 N. Chicago St, Joliet, IL, con el entierro a seguir en Woodlawn Memorial Park, 23060 W. Jefferson St, Joliet, IL.
