Age 89, at rest on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 with family by his side. Born on February 12, 1919. Lifelong resident of Joliet, IL.
Survived by his loving wife of 64 years Mary (nee Klen) Kapinus; sons Dennis (Mary Ann) of Plainfield, IL, Richard (Sandra) of Diamond, IL, and Edwin (Elizabeth) of Marrero, LA; daughter Barbara (Mark) Crittenden of San Diego, CA; seven grandchildren Stephen, Timothy, Lauren and Allison Kapinus, Christina Barto, Brandon and Johnny Crittenden; three great-grandchildren Katie and Ryan Kapinus and Jordan Crittenden; brothers Raymond (Theresa), Arthur (Adeline), Robert (Roberta) of Joliet, IL, and Bernard (Jane) of Morris, IL; sisters Frances (late Bert) Quarasima of Joliet, IL, and Irene (Robert) Turner of San Diego, CA. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Preceded in death by his parents John and Elizabeth Kapinus; brothers John, Joseph and Donald Kapinus; sisters Mary and Anna Kapinus, and Elizabeth Rogel.
Retired from E.J. & E Railroad in 1979. Veteran of WWII. Member of the Knights of Columbus Council #4400, St. Bernard's Parish, V.F.W. Cantigny Post, Old Timers Baseball and Irving Athletic Club.

From where services will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 9:30 AM to St. Bernard's in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Interment at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
