Andrew Davis (Dave) ""A?? 3/27/1944 ""A?? 8/3/2009 ""A?? died early Monday morning at Saint Joseph"s Hospital, circled by his wife of 40 years, Rosalie Bennett Davis, and close friends. Dave had settled into a happy retirement which he described as ""Living the American Dream"" after working for 25 years as a Letter Carrier. Born in McKeesport PA, to a family of 9, Dave joined the Navy at 17 and served 3 successive tours of duty in Viet Nam before marrying Lockport resident Rosalie Bennett (4th Grade teacher at Read, Walsh and Ludwig Elementary schools for 35 years) in 1969. Dave touched many people"s lives and was known for his generosity, humor, and desire to help. Though he had no children of his own, he was a father figure to many of his nieces and nephews and loved them all. There was scarcely a time in the last 40 years that he didn't have one or more children living with him. He was proudest of his nephew David Bennett (VA), who lived with him for 19 years and whom he considered him a true son. Dave also played pivotal fatherly roles in the lives of John Kelly (WA), and Anthony Bennett (TX), and cherished the time that Alicia Biersteker (CA) and Tanya Bennett (CA) lived with him. He is survived by brothers and sisters Barbara Davis Bodner, Kenneth C. Davis, Art Davis, Matilda Davis Blank, Lillian Davis Viehl, and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Andrew Davis Memorial Fund through any Harris bank.
