Amelia (Granich) De Franco At 86 years old, Amelia entered into God's hands on April 11, 2010 in Chandler Arizona. Devoted to family and friends, Amelia was a spiritual, kind & giving Mother, Grandmother, Greatgrandmother, and friend. She was born in Laona, Wisconsin on June 23, 1923 and graduated from Laona High School. She married Tony Granich on August 9, 1941. After Tony passed in 1975, she married Joseph De Franco in 1977 then Joe passed away in 1980. Amelia is preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Frances Namovich, and sisters Ann and Angelia and a brother David. She is survived by her daughters Madeline (Jim) Frey, Mary Fran (Larry) Malinoski, and Peggy (Scott) Allen-VanCamp, her son Tony (Marilyn) Granich, her sisters Frances (John) Gamberinin, Alice Namovich, brother Fred and sister-in-law Christine Herbert along with numerous nieces and nephews. Amelia was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, of which she was extremely proud. While living in Joliet she and Tony worked at Stefanich's restaurant and then she moved on to became the Director of Banquet Services for the Holiday Inn. She was an active member of St. Joseph's Church and the Slovenian Women's Union in Joliet. She later moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1977 where she was an active member on the Parish Council and Eucharistic Minister at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Phoenix as well as past-president of the Ladies Sodality, was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Phoenix Art Museum. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Amelia's name go to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association. ""Into your hands we commend her spirit, O Lord"". A Celebration of Amelia"s Life will begin on Saturday, March 17 at 10:30 AM with prayers at the funeral home, then a procession to St. Joseph Church where a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be Saturday from 9 to 10:30 AM
