Amelia Avalos, 49, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024. She dedicated over 10 years of her career to the Will County Health Department, where she made a significant impact with her work and compassion.

Amelia bravely survived acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 2016, but ultimately faced other complications. She was a loving mother to her daughter Ariana and enjoyed life to the fullest. Amelia had a passion for shopping, fancy nails, and adored her furbabies. She also had a remarkable green thumb, tending to numerous plants and nurturing her garden with great care.

Amelia is preceded in death by her baby boy, Jose Rodolfo, her beloved brother Juan "Moose," her grandparents from both the Rodriguez and Avalos families, her aunt Carmen Avalos, her uncle Cruz Avalos, and her cousins Nestor Avalos, Sonia Avalos, and Alex Guajardo.

She leaves behind her cherished parents, Rodolfo and Lupe Avalos, her daughter Ariana (Rudy) Valdovinos, and her furbabies, Dopey and Odiberto. Amelia is also survived by her sister Marisol (Miguel) Leal, her nephews Jose (Yesica), Danny (Julia), Nico, Cameron (Katie) Bell, Jordyn Bell and her great niece and nephews Lionel, Noel, and Emma'Sophia. She also leaves behind many numerous friends.

The family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Monday, July 1, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road in Joliet.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 2 ,2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 710 W. Marion St, Joliet, IL. with burial to follow at Elmhurst Cemetery, 1212 E. Washington St, Joliet, IL

Amelia's vibrant spirit, love for life, and devotion to her family will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She leaves a legacy of strength, love, and beautiful memories.

La familia recibirá a parientes y amigos para una visita el Lunes 1 de Julio de 2024 de 4:00 p.m. a 8:00 p.m. en la Funeraria Tezak, 1211 Plainfield Road en Joliet.
