Alvin “Al”, “Oop” Raymond Bokoski Age 84, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, IL.
Alvin was born on July 17, 1932 in Joliet, IL a graduate from Joliet Catholic High School in 1950. He was in the Navy Reserves from 1950 to 1954, during the time in the reserves he was employed by CommonWealth Edison. From 1954 to 1956 he was active duty with the United States Navy as an electronic technician on the USS Thomaston (LSD-28) as a 3rd class petty officer. After his return he continued to work for CommonWealth Edison until he retired in 1991.
In 1954 he married Marilyn (Misischia). They were married for 29 years until her death in 1983. In 1988 he married Nancy (nee Edmunds) Akeman, who survives. He is also survived by three sons, Alan (Colleen) Bokoski parents of Kevin and Brian, Michael (Susan) Bokoski parents of Katelyn, Patrick and Megan, Dave Bokoski, father of Joshua, Jillian, and Nicholas and by his stepchildren, Vicki (Raymond) Adams parents of Jacob, Valerie (David) Jelinek, parents of Kyle and Christopher.
Preceded in Death by his parents, Raymond J. Bokoski and Dorothy J. (Roberts); his wife Marilyn (Misischia); and his brother, Robert Bokoski.
Al is remembered as a devoted family man, husband and parishioner/usher of Holy Family parish. He was also an accomplished woodworker, avid golfer and the guy who could fix anything and had the willingness to help. He will be greatly missed and his memory will live in our hearts forever.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Alvin’s name may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church in Shorewood or the charity of your choice.
A celebration of Alvin’s life will begin on Friday, April 28, 2017 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:15 a.m. then driving in procession to Holy Family Catholic Church in Shorewood for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
