Alexander Grabavoy

Alexander Grabavoy Sr., age 88, entered eternal life at his home on Saturday, February 1, 2014.

Proud father of, Denise Grabavoy (Rex) Denkmann of Burr Ridge, IL, Alexandra (Dr. Timothy) McComas of Las Cruces, NM, Gregory (Rebecca) Grabavoy, of Darien, IL and Dr. Alexander (Marisue) Grabavoy Jr. of Shorewood, IL; grandfather of Danielle Denkmann, Gabrielle and Stephen McComas, Alayna (Matthew) Jarotkiewicz, Nika (Nicholas) Giuliano, and Christiana and Natalya Grabavoy; proud great-grandfather of Chloe Ruth Jarotkiewicz; and brother of John (Marcia) Grabavoy.

Preceded in death by his wife, Danica, brothers Ned and Ted Grabavoy and sister Agnes Grabavoy.

Alexander was the owner of Grabavoy Hardware with his brother Ted. He was a member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church where he was a former board member. Alexander was a WWII Veteran, a member of American Legion Post #1080 and the VFW Cantigny Post #367.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Alexander's name to St. Nicholas Orthodox Church or the charity of your choice.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 7, 2014 at Tezak's Home to Celebrate Life from 3:00pm to 8:00 pm with a Panachida Service at 7:30 pm.

A funeral service for Alexander Grabavoy Sr. will be held Saturday, February 8, 2014 at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church. He will lie-in-state from 9:30 am until the time of funeral service at 10:00 am. There will be no procession from the funeral home to the church. Graveside services will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Joliet.
