At rest on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 surrounded by his loving family.

Survived by his wife of 58 years, Alice (nee Budzinski) Russ; three daughters, June (Phil) Borntrager, Kim (late David) Eichelberger and Lynn (Dennis) Nichols; three grandchildren, Jill Eichelberger, Austin and Darcee Nichols; two sisters, Theresa (Alvin) Alexander and Pat (Alan) Spreitzer. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by his parents, John and Cecelia Russ; brothers, Frank, Nicholas, George and John Russ; sisters, Helen Nurczyk, Marie Ustaski and Elizabeth Russ.

Retired from EJ&E Railroad after 31 years of service as a Planning Mill Man. He worked in the Steel Car Shop and on the Repair Track before entering the Carpenter Shop. His greatest pride was working on the Presidential Coaches and the Mr. Safe J. Coach. Inspired by working as a carpenter, Al built his ranch style home and later added a garage. By himself, he laid the 600 cement blocks and built all the windows for the garage. After retirement, Al continued to use his skills wherever needed to help family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Anne's Church in Crest Hill or to the family in Albert's name would be appreciated.

From where services will be held on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 9:30 AM to St. Anne

Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-8 PM.
