Albert Frank Govednik, age 88, born into eternal life on Saturday, October 28, 2017.
Albert is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Marian (nee Mutz); children, Albert Joseph (Linda) Govednik and Jeffrey William (Stacey) Govednik; sister, Alice (Richard) Brandolino; several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Anne (nee Kosjancik); brother, Frank (Vivian) and Leonard (Marian) Govednik.
Albert was born and raised in Joliet. He was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church in Shorewood. He was a proud United States Air Force Veteran and later worked for U.S. Steel, General Machine and Tool and retired from BP Amoco after 20 years of service. Albert was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed being outdoors. He also enjoyed listening to and singing polkas, woodworking and hand carving clocks for his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of Albert’s life will begin on Thursday, November 2, 2017 with a visitation at Tezak Funeral Home (1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet, IL) from 9:30 a.m. until prayers in the funeral home chapel at 11:30 a.m. then driving in procession to Holy Family Catholic Church in Shorewood for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 12:30 p.m. Interment to follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood. Per Albert’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded.
