Agnes S. Knowles

Agnes Saye Knowles, 93, passed away May 6, 2008 in Las Vegas. She had been a resident of Las Vegas for the past six years.

Born in Rockdale, IL on January 21, 1915, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Knowles, Sr; parents, Frank and Mary Saye; and ten siblings.

She is survived by her son, Leroy (Mary Jean) Knowles of Las Vegas; and her daughter, Mary Jo Doyle of Harrisonburg, VA; she is also survived by her sister, Erna Koza of Clemson, SC; and her beloved grandchildren, Kevin Knowles and Andria Coleman of Las Vegas; and her great-grandchildren, Ryan (Nicole) Dineen and Ashley Coleman; and her great-great-granddaughter, Ivy Elisabeth Dineen, all of Las Vegas; also survived by numerous nieces; and nephews.

She lived most of her life in Rockdale, IL, and at 77 years old, moved to Austin, TX to live with her daughter, Mary Jo. She developed numerous friendships during her stay in Texas and always enjoyed the Texas Bluebonnets in bloom. In 2002, she moved from Texas to Las Vegas to be near her son and his family, and enjoyed living at the Destinations of Sandhill in her own apartment and enjoyed playing cards and bingo.

There will be private graveside services in Illinois on June 27, 2008. In her memory, the family requests donations be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice Center of Las Vegas, 4141 Swenson St., Las Vegas, NV 89119, and St. Jude's Ranch for Children, 100 St. Jude St., Boulder City, NV 89005.
