Susan A. Horvat “Mamu” (nee Voitik), age 61, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 20, 2021 with her loving family by her side.
Susan is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, James M. Horvat; her children, Kristin (Matt) Middleton, Kyle (Miriam) Horvat, Courtney Horvat and Callie Horvat; grandchildren, Blake, Eric, Angel, Logan and Lexi; mother, Marilyn (the late Joseph) Voitik; brother, Joe (Karen) Voitik; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by her son in infancy, Keith Horvat; father, Joseph Voitik; aunt, Kathy Peca; mother and father-in-law, John and Carol Horvat; sisters-in-law, Joan Frieh and Cathy O’Connor; grandparents, John and Helen Peca and Joseph and Rose Voitik.
Susan attended St. Raymond Grade School, graduated from St. Francis Academy class of 1977 and attended Cosmetology School.
She had a passion for working with children with special needs at Troy School District 30C. She volunteered working with children at Parkview Christian Church in which she had a strong faith with God. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Susan loved hanging out and swimming with her family at the pool, reading, working puzzles, walks with her neighborhood friends, family game night, kayaking, gardening, vacationing with her husband Jim in Colorado and San Diego and girl trips to Lake Geneva. She was passionate about animal rescue and loved cuddling with her pet dogs. Susan was an avid Chicago White Sox fan and was always ready for the Cubs Sox debate with her husband. She will be truly missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Susan’s name to the Will County Humane Society would be appreciated.
A celebration of Susan’s life will begin on Friday, March 26, 2021 with a memorial visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. A service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville. Due to the Covid-19 restrictions face masks are required.
