Mayor Arthur (Art) Schultz
Arthur Schultz, age 78 of Joliet, Illinois; died Saturday November 26th, 2011 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home with his loving family by his side. He was a lifetime Joliet resident and served the citizenA�??s of the City of Joliet for almost 50 years. He served 20 years as Mayor from 1991 through May of 2011 and 29 years in the Joliet Police Department rising to the rank of Police Lieutenant.
Beloved husband of 57 years to Frances (nee Jacksa) where they were joined in the Holy Sacrament of Matrimony at the Cathedral of St RaymondA�??s on November 6th, 1954. He attended Joliet Catholic High School and proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean war. Survived by his loving wife, Fran and his five children Debbie (Richard) Fonck, Nancy (Steve) Voots, Artie (Nancy) Schultz, Danny (Sue) Schultz, Mike Schultz, his seven grandchildren Rick and Rachel (Mike Johnston) Fonck, Max Voots, Brett and Maggie Schultz, and Samantha and Mark Schultz. He is also survived by his sister Clara Schultz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Margaret (nee Byrne) Schultz, and his grandchildren Jennifer and Sarah Voots, and Arthur Schultz Jr.
He was a past President of the Joliet Police Officers Association, member of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #58, founding member of Police Athletic League (PAL), member of the Joliet Police Benevolent Association, Will County SherriffA�??s Deputy, and a board member on the Joliet Police and Fire Board. He was a member and past commander of the American Legion Post #1080, member of V.F.W. Cantigny Post #367, Moran AC, Joliet Moose Lodge #300, Irving Athletic Club, Honorary Life Member of the Old Timers Baseball Association of Will County, member of the Retired and Disabled Police of America, Croatian Cultural Club of Joliet, past member of the Joliet Arsenal Development Authority and a parishioner of the Cathedral of St. RaymondA�??s Parish.
Art was recently honored to receive the Joliet Chamber of Commerce Lifetime Achievement Award which summarized his almost 50 years of service and love for the City of Joliet. For Art, actions speak louder than words.
The family of Arthur Schultz would like to extend a special heartfelt thank you to his physician and friend, Joseph Hindo; all his past physicians and staff, and especially the staff at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home for their support during his final days.

Funeral services for Arthur Schultz will be held Wednesday November 30, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Brad Baker officiating. Interment with Military Honors to Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
